Montevideo is a city that invites you to explore it from different angles — and from above, it reveals a completely different perspective. The city’s viewpoints and iconic locations offer spectacular views that showcase its urban beauty, endless coastline, and unique blend of history and modernity.
One of the most emblematic places to enjoy Montevideo from above is the Palacio Salvo. This iconic building, constructed in 1928, rises 95 meters high and features a rooftop viewpoint where you can see the Old City and the horizon stretching out over the Río de la Plata. It's a place full of history and architecture — perfect for photography.

Another key viewpoint is the Telecommunications Tower, better known as the Antel Tower. This modern skyscraper is the tallest in Uruguay, standing at 157 meters, and offers an observation deck with a unique panoramic view of the entire city. From here, you can see how the different neighborhoods spread toward the coast and how green spaces define Montevideo.

The Panoramic Viewpoint of the Montevideo City Hall is another must-see. Located on the 22nd floor of the City Hall building, 77 meters high, this viewpoint offers a 360-degree view of the city. From here, visitors can appreciate the layout of the neighborhoods, the coast, the port, and the vastness of the Río de la Plata. It's an accessible spot and perfect for capturing the essence of Montevideo from above.

The Montevideo Hill (Cerro de Montevideo) is another unmissable landmark — and one of my favorite places. This historic site, rising 132 meters above sea level, is home to the Fortaleza General Artigas, from where you can enjoy a privileged view of the bay and the port. The natural surroundings of the hill also offer a unique combination of landscape and tranquility.

No matter which viewpoint you choose, one thing is certain: seeing Montevideo from above is an unforgettable experience. Whether it’s from a historic building, a fortress, or a modern terrace, the city always has something new to offer those who dare to discover it from the skies.
I hope this information was interesting and useful...
See you soon, travelers!
